Pae Po’o

A pae po'o - Hawaiian wooden belly board diplayed upright, outdoors on sandy ground with a rock wall in the background.

Description / 説明

Our signature Pae Po’o, dubbed Ka Niho, is a return to basics: a traditional, simple shape, hand-finished in the Hawaiian style. Its outline creates a wide and stable platform that’s comfortable to paddle and fun to ride.

Plys of cedar, pine, or birch woods are selectively laminated to balance stiffness and flexibility, improving the overall ride. A bullet nose and 50/50 rails give way to sharp trailing edges and a thinned “crescent moon” tail, allowing the rider to hold their line whether in the pocket of a shallow barrel or cutting back across the open face of a wave.

Features / 製品の特徴

  • Solid body wood construction

  • Stock lengths from 1’8” - 3’6”

  • Made to order

  • Multiple finishes available

A woman in a black bikini standing on a sandy beach, holding a tall wooden surfboard with decorative patterns, overlooking the ocean with green vegetation and mountains in the background.

Description / 説明

Traditional finless surfboards, or papa he’e nalu, were central to Hawaiian culture, representing more than sport. Carved from hardwoods like koa, their creation involved ritual prayers. Surfing was a spiritual link to the ocean, practiced by all social classes to demonstrate skill, grace, and one’s deep connection to nature.

Our designs honor surfing's traditional Hawaiian roots while accenting our exclusive outlines with traditional aesthetic touches of Japanese craftsmanship. Whether as an alaia (available from 3’0”-8’0” long) or an olo (available from 8’0”-16’0”), each board is a marriage of multicultural tradition and state-of-the-art, computer-aided hydrodynamic modeling.
