Robert Stehlik founded Blue Planet Surf in 1993 with great ambitions and a simple philosophy at the center of his business: ‘create surf equipment for surfers, by surfers.’
Stehlik began as a two-man operation on the island of O’ahu, doing “pop-up shops” at the ‘Aloha Flea Market’ swap meet at Aloha Stadium and at the University of Hawaii’s Student Campus Center. In 2024, Blue Planet Surf has grown into a worldwide brand specializing in retail surfing, hydrofoil, and stand-up paddle (SUP) watersports. Key distributors for Blue Planet Surf are located in Australia, Canada, Europe, Philippines, Japan, Fiji, and Guam.
Blue Planet Surf’s primary business has been situated on the island of O’ahu - in the city of Honolulu for more than three decades, with an additional location specializing in equipment and board rentals, and retail, in the town of Hale’iwa on O’ahu’s North Shore.
In 2023 KAIROU Waterman was commissioned to produce four original graphic compositions and two logo variants. Both updated logo designs, and two compositions of the original four have been put into production on Blue Planet branded equipment and accessories.
